The year 2015 has been a great year for Ida Alive!  Here is a look back at the past year.
The Ida Alive website launched in March.  The website is full of information!  There has been several changes to the website since it was started.  There are many different pages including featured partners, a wellness calendar, wellness program ideas, health & human resources, upcoming events, a blog with the Ida Alive column, news items, and a contact page.  If you haven’t already checked out the website go to www.idaalive.org.
The Ida Alive Facebook page went live on July 15th.  The Facebook page allows Ida Alive to keep in better contact with its partners and to reach a larger audience.  Please like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/idaalive to keep updated on upcoming events.
The 2nd Annual Ida Alive “Move With Us” event was a success!  The event was held on September 1st with over 800 participants.  The elementary school in Galva had a walk for their students, the elementary school in Ida Grove had a dance/exercise event for their students, several businesses hosted walks for their employees, and many people exercised or walked on their own.
Ida Alive hosted several wellness challenges throughout the year.  The most popular challenges were the Drink Water Challenge and the Walking Challenge.  The Drink Water Challenge was held over a 6 week period and throughout that time 12 teams containing 66 people drank a total of 960 gallons of water.  During the month-long Walking Challenge 7 teams of 36 people walked a total of 407 hours and 8 teams of 41 people walked a total of 2,346 miles.  Thanks to all those who participated in the wellness challenges.  Ida Alive will be hosting more wellness challenges in 2016.
Ida Alive applied for and received a grant through the Horn Memorial Hospital Foundation.  This grant is a Kickstarter Grant from Wellmark Foundation in the amount of $10,000.  These grant funds will be used to purchase new bike racks for each of the communities within Ida County.  The goal is to have the new bike racks installed by Spring/Summer 2016.
Ida Alive partners also held monthly meetings throughout the year.  If you would like to become a partner or learn more about Ida Alive you can send an e-mail to IdaAlive@hornmemorialhospital.org.  Ida Alive is looking forward to 2016 and would like to wish everyone a Healthy and Happy New Year!
